Can Taking Fish Oil For Skin Be Effective?

Some very convincing evidence seems to be emerging concerning the effectiveness of taking fish oils to combat some very common skin complaints.

I must say that I had never considered taking fish oil for skin complaints of any kind, but there's one or two good reasons why we should start to rethink our preconceived opinions and take notice of what some researchers have commented on.

I first heard about these omega 3 fatty acids when I bought some specially for my kids. I had heard about their properties to help keep our brains healthy and some convincing evidence that kids who took these supplements had better concentration levels and was considered essential to their brain's growth.

Well, that aside I began to then look into how these dietary pills were being taken for a whole host of other reasons. That list is quite lengthy and included such health areas as your heart, vision, brain and immune systems.

That's also where the fish oil skin connections began to emerge. It appears that some skin disorders like psoriasis have been shown to improve as a result of taking these supplements. Quite how this is achieved seems to be reliant on them inhibiting the production of compounds which left unchecked results in inflammation. It's this that's often the cause of such a condition.

Research has also indicated that these omega 3 supplements are generally good for the health your skin and nails, which is an added bonus. There's a lot more information about how to find an effective supplement on my main site, which also mentions the many other healthy benefits, not only fish oil for skin health.
