Grape Seed and Glowing Skin

Grapes are considered to contain antioxidants that has pycnogenol, which is a natural ingredient that could aid in the cleansing, revitalizing and tightening of the skin. Because this is so, it is also expected that grape seed contains the same antioxidants that could result to glowing skin especially when used in combination with other natural beauty products like cucumber and lime, among others.

Grape seed can be used greatly for exfoliation. This beauty regimen is usually adopted to get rid of old skin cells that may have left your skin looking rough and dull. There are two main techniques of doing skin exfoliation. One is through doing it manually by using scrubs or other natural products related to exfoliation. The second is doing it through the use of products with chemical acids that are used to loosen the skin's upper layers more quickly and efficiently. Whichever of the two methods is used, exfoliation is basically the removal of the skin's upper layers so that the new skin surface, which is fresher and revitalized will come out and shine.

Before we extol on the virtues of the grape seed in relation to glowing skin, we must first understand the process of natural skin growth. This process is called mitosis or what is more known as cell division. Mitosis usually occurs in the epidermis' lowest layer, where the cells go through the process of cell division, after which it rises to the outer surface of the skin. The process, which typically takes an estimated 28 days to complete, tend to slow down as your age advances. This slowing down will allow the skin cells at the skin's surface to thicken, resulting in the skin taking on an appearance that is dull and rough. The purpose of skin exfoliation is to reduce the building up of these skin cells that have died as a result of the retardation of the process of mitosis. It does not matter what kind of skin exfoliation technique is applied on the skin, its result is always acquiring the fresher looking skin that glows with health that you want.

The most common skin exfoliation technique that is used by quite a number of women is the manual scrub. There are beauty product lines that carry skin care items that are intended for skin exfoliation. Typically, these lines also include a skin scrub that may be some part of a herbal plant like a pod of a ground seed or some other part that has an abrasive quality. This is where grape seeds come in, along with husks from walnuts or other some other nut fruit. These ingredients, especially the grape seed, are often contained either in creams or gels. Because of the antioxidants found in grape seed, it is a very common ingredient for skin exfoliant products. The antioxidant properties contained in grape seeds help in tightening and revitalizing the new skin that surface after the old layer of dead skin cells have been peeled off. Products made of plastic or fibers from nylon are also used in applying the manual scrub technique in skin exfoliation while salt scrubs and other mineral scrubs are available as well.
