Discover the Difference Between Collagen and Elastin Enhancers and Other Skincare Products

If you are like me you probably do not like it when we get lost on the terminology and definitions of what you are reading.. It makes the learning process that much harder. For this reason let me start by explaining that I am defining collagen and elastin products as any products that work with, stimulate, contain, or enhance these two proteins that are so vital for good skin health. Collagen and elastin enhancers are products that enhance or promote the growth of collagen and elastin within your body. The second group may be a subset of the first group. I will try and explain some of the differences and misleading practices involved with these skin care products and how they are marketed to the public.

You might think that a good skincare product that act as collagen and elastin enhancers would contain collagen or elastin. Not so. It turns out that the molecules for these two proteins are too big to be absorbed through your skin. Therefore any collagen and elastin products are very misleading if they are product that these two proteins as ingredients in their products. They are useless as ingredients because applying them topically on your skin does nothing for increasing the amount of these proteins within the structure of your skin.

A common collagen and elastin enhancer would be found in a common dietary supplement you may have seen called CoQ10. This substance if in all the cells of your body and my prove useful as a dietary supplement; however it is definitely useful when applied at part of a skin care product topically for your skin. Here it promotes your bodies own ability to re-grow collagen and elastin.

Because collagen and elastin decrease with age as they break down over time, and because they are responsible for the firmness and the elastic qualities of your skin, the increase of these two proteins through re-growth can restore some of the firmness and elastic qualities to your skin and reduce wrinkles

Now that you understand why all collagen and elastin products are not created equally your next step is to learn more about collagen and elastin enhancers that promote the natural growth of these vital proteins.
