A wart is spread many ways but the most likely way you got the virus is through skin to skin contact. The virus can enter through a cut, scrape, or the mucous membrane making it nearly impossible not to get. Typically, the HPV virus will simply sit dormant in your body without much fanfare. A face wart or any kind of wart for that matter will surface only after your immune system is depressed. This can be from something as mundane as catching a cold, lack of sleep, or improper diet.
So how do you remove a wart?
Typically, there are several ways you can go about doing it. If you ever come to a site that promises that you can be wart free in hours, understand that this is nothing more than a lie though. The reality is that most wart medications take anywhere from 2-4 weeks before the wart is completely removed. The most common form of wart removal is to simply go to your local dermatologist. They will have it frozen, cauterized or burned off.
But what if you don't have the money or health insurance to help shoulder the costs of wart removal?
There are several over the counter medications that will help with removing a face wart. The most common is compound W, aka salicylic acid. This can be bought at your local grocery for a few bucks. You simply apply the cream directly onto the surface of the wart until it finally goes away. The downside to this method is that it usually takes a few weeks for it to work. To speed up the process, try applying it immediately after taking a bath or shower. This will help soften the hard epidermal layers of the wart so the medication can penetrate the skin more easily.
A quicker home remedy is to use garlic to remove a face wart. Here is how to do it. Crush a clove and apply the crushed garlic directly on the wart. It is important that it doesn't touch the surrounding area. Cover with a bandaid and leave it in place for a day. What will happen is the immune system will attack the area, a blister will form and the wart should die and fall off within a week.
Almost all wart treatments will eventually be successful. This is because you body's immune system will eventually fight off the wart virus eliminating the wart. The bad news is that warts could come back since the HPV virus will stay in your system.
